Nonprofits Impacted by USAID Closure
Support highly rated charities continuing vital global work that have been affected by USAID closure.
What's currently happening?
The landscape of global aid has profoundly shifted. On July 1, 2025, the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) officially ceased operations as an independent agency, with remaining functions absorbed by the State Department. This closure — following months of systematic funding freezes and program terminations — has left many nonprofits facing sudden funding gaps that threaten their ability to sustain essential global programs. This unprecedented shift is disrupting work across multiple sectors and having immediate consequences for vulnerable communities around the world. Despite the scale of this challenge, nonprofit organizations are stepping up, adapting rapidly, and continuing to deliver lifesaving services where they’re needed most. This list highlights nonprofits working across five key areas: addressing hunger and famine, advancing global health and humanitarian relief, protecting the planet, building economic opportunity, and strengthening governance and education.
